About Position Papers
Every nation at GSIS MUN will be represented by two delegates. Each delegate will write one position paper individually. This means that each nation will have two position papers on two separate hot spot topics. Position papers should be turned in to your POLS breakout teacher at the desk in Smith Hall (along with the country fact sheet).
A position paper is a one page, typed statement of your nation's position on a specific topic. It should include your informed assessment of the policies, programs, and revisions your country will or will not be willing to accept in regards to the topic. It may refer to previous UN resolutions, agreements, or treaties. It may use data and statistics about your country to back up analysis. In any case, it should include some form of evidence to back up your assessment of the position your nation would take on the topic. (Be sure to include citations for the sources you use). Your position paper should include a minimum of two reputable sources with MLA citation and bibliography.
The position papers are for use by your delegation. They will not be copied or shared with other students.
One page = 300-400 words, typed, double-spaced, 1 inch margins, Times New Roman or similar font.
